Hi Edward,

As to my experience, the 10-20 is a fine lens although the 12-22 Nikon shows more detail/sharpness. But the latter one is more expensive and I definitely need the 2mm (3 mm in small film) for my extreme wide angles ;-)

As for price/performance, the 10-20 is a good deal IMHO. Silent zoom, good mechanic quality and "feeling". Vignetting ist not so important for me - sometimes I use this even as a means of art.
