Thank you, Yamil for all of your great information that you shared with me. I now have a better grasp and understanding on where to start with these lenses. I can't wait to go shopping and look at the lenses you mentioned. My boyfriends pocketbook probably doesn't like you right now, but who cares......LOL Thanks again!!!! Kelly

Hi Kelly, Thank you very much for your nice comment. I think all of us at some point have been there, thinking what is the best equipment for the photography that we want to do. According to my experience, 300 mm F/2.8 plus the 1.4 X can help to get the shots that you one, but that lens is too heavy for hand hold. Although you can hand hold it for short periods of time, 500 mm is also very heavy (3.9 kg) and you'll need to carry a tripod where ever you go. There are 3 lenses out there that I will recommend you. 1) 100-400 mm F/4.5- 5.6 (around $1400- 2.7 kg) 2) 400 mm F/5.6 (around $1100- 2.8 Lbs) 3) 400mm DO F/4. (1,930 grams) This one is the one I use daily and by far my favorite, but I have to admit, that I have never used the 400 mm F/5.6. The main factor here is the cost. The cost for this lens is around $5300 but you'll get what you pay. The 2nd lens is a good choice. One of my favorite photographers uses that super light lens for all her work. Although the focusing system is slower than the 400 mm F/4 And the first one will be my last choice. It's more versatile that the other 2 options, but at 400 mm- full extension the images are not as sharp as with the other 2 lenses. Ok Kelly, I hope this helps and please contact me if you have any further questions. Best wishes. Yamil

I love your bird photograpy, and that is my next project or passion, is to get into this type of photography. I have done macro's for so long and now want to branch out. I have a 300mm but know that is not quite long enough for this type of photograpy. I am debating on either getting a 500 mm lens wich is gobs of money or getting a doubler. Do you work with either of these lenses? Any suggestions or info you have to share would be very valuable, as I love your work. Kelly
