Hi Willem,
The backlighting (rim lighting?) on the man makes him look a small bit like a cardboard cut-out. That's not a very good description of what I see...but he's a little flat looking to me...2-dimensional. However, that same light separates him from the background well. Judging from your work, I'm certain your print of this image would blow me away.

Really good lighthing for a portrait shot. I especially like the bright crescent on the fathers head. It makes him look caring and friendly. The square format also works great in Your composition. Looks like You have a good eye for travel shots. Congratulation!
