You are right Pat about VR being on. The first generation VR in this lens is not quite as good in a boat as later versions.

Eb - I assume you have VR on? Can't tell you are in a canoe. Nice exposure, reflections and details.

Tim, the 80-400, I have had for several years and I can recommend it as sharp and versatile! I took the D70 because I was apprehensive about damaging my D200 with salt water. I got over it 'though and took my D200 on subsequent outings!

Hey looks like u splurged on the Nikon lens...was looking at it myself and have not made a decision yet. Awesome detail, beautiful shot Eb. Got to ask ...why the D70? and not the D200?
