i see stuff like this so much, and just cant pull it off like this??? the lighting, the exposure..when you can see something as this, and make it work as you have here, your definatly doing something right..makes me want to back up, and relearn basics, about expoure and lighting, seem to take all the stuff for granted. want to go back to being a photographer, and not a PS artist.

It was actually on-camera, but off-camera and diffused would be even better. My SB25 for my Nikon N90 was high enough that I rarely got red-eye, and I did a lot of verticals, which sorta made the flash off-camera...lol. My best assistant was a surprise. I hired a young man who was a friend for a flat fee, and he turned out to be the best assistant I ever had...making people laugh and watching for clothing arrangements, etc. He was johnny-on-the-spot when I needed new batteries, film or anything else.
I am a natural romantic, and that was what people liked about my wedding photos. I did take the standard shots, but also lots of kissing, diffused, and romantic poses. I do wish you all the best, Stan.:)

Thanks Shirley, was the fill off camera or on camera with diffuser? I did some Senior pictures for a friend and they want me to do their daughters wedding as well. Just want to get my ducks in a row. I want to keep it fun but do not want to let them down. I think the assistant idea is a key plan. Thanks for the care and feeding of a fledgling!! Glad you are mending well.

Shooting in natural light outdoors with just a touch of fill flash always worked well for me. Indoors I also used fill flash, too. Of course, when I was shooting weddings I did not have a digital camera, which would have made everything so much easier. A good assistant is also a must.:)
