This is the former USS Tarawa (LHA-1), now decommissioned, on her way out of San Diego for her final trip. She is being towed to the graveyard of ships in Pearl Harbor, HI. She gave us some 30 plus years of demanding service and now she will rest until recalled to active duty or consigned to the breaker's yard. The tow vessel will only be able to make 4 knots, so this will be a long and probably boring transit. I played around with PS on this one, desaturating the color and tinkering with curves.
