Simon, I think that for a first attempt, you've done remarkably well! I do think however, that Davids' suggestions could help your photo a lot. Well, at the very least, it's something you can consider in future.

Nice concept you have going here. though i think the shirt is too loud, and several features of her's have been flattened out a bit. though the skin tones look nice. I would have to agree with the others about some side lighting.

Nice model but I'm with Shane with respect to the lighting.
My understanding is that a ring flash is currently a "hot" style with some fashion photographers but I think moving the model a bit so she's away from the background may help with the shadows. I still think side and hairlighting would go great with this shot but I also know that you work with what you have.

The outline of her shadow is a bit distracting. I think some side lighting would bring out the texture of her clothes and add some depth to her facial features.
