About Found this grasshopper nymph while out shooting yesterday. This one was about 1/2" long. For those not familiar with nymphs: Tiny grasshopper nymphs hatch from eggs in the spring. Nymphs resemble wingless adults and develop (molt) through five or six stages (instars) as they grow larger and develop wing pads. Nymphs develop into adults in 40 to 60 days. There is generally one brood a year.

Beautiful shot!! The DOF and focus are great. I've never seen a nymph this color before. I've been watching a red Flower Mantis Nymph for a couple of days and maybe I'll get a picture as good as this if I'm lucky. Thanks!

Wonderful image.

Ronnie - I was wondering what the effect of the extension tubes is on the focus distance. Do you get a larger image at the same focus distance as your 300mm and a longer focus distance if you go for the same image size?

If you wouldn't mind, please respond to this question "on" the praying mantis picture in my portfolio. That way, I'll be notified when you respond - Thanks - Bob T.
