I'm wondering about the original of this shot... posted here it seems a little dark and a little soft... could easily be the scan though!

Very nice capture and well separated from the background despite the similar hues. Minor nits: the green at the bottom; maybe a little closely cropped on the left.

Hi all,
Thanks for your kind comments on my image. I think a lot of the credit has to go to the heron who was just begging to be photographed. No flash was used here. I'm slightly disappointed with the scan of this shot, as the birds eye was far clearer and brighter on the slide, as was the orange of the beak. Somehow the orange/yellow areas have gone a bit muddy here.
