The other thought is crop to a rectangle of just the eyes and the ears.

I like this a whole lot, it gives me a the feelings of youth and of growing up discovering new thinks.
As for the composition I think that I might have croped off some of the left side (back) of his head because the lighting back there is too bright and it makes it seem like there are two blinding light sources
also cropping some of the back would make him look more as if he is looking into the future.......
