HAHA Neil, since getting the D70 I haven't painted a stroke. this camera is just to fun to play with. Is it an addiction? God I hope not as I need to put food on the table.

Excellent work Tim, i just read Mary's critique and spent the last half an hour checking out your Website. Whew!!! Outstanding, i admire what you do and the determination (which you obviously have) to see these things through. Hope you have lot's of fun with your D70, if you have half as much fun as i do then you are on to a good thing :)
Best wishes from Switzerland

Hi Tim, Awesome combination of tones, hues and contrasts. The division of the composition into three different bits is very strong. The cool blueish green tone. Also, the shady part in the far end creates a nice lighting effect. Excellent shot.

Cheers,

Hugo

Imageopolis Featured Photo Critique Tim! Thank you for your kind comments on my images. I have spent some time perusing your images here as well as your website. You really are the master of the classic landscape. Your images of the Canadian Rockies are some of my favorites because I love that area so. Overall, the framing you use on your images clearly illustrates your artistic perspective as a painter. And I love how you manage to capture that sweet glacier melt blue...it has to be just perfect or it is all wrong, and you represent it very well.

I also checked out your website, which should be required viewing for any serious landscape photograher or painter. Seeing the list of galleries that have represented you, I am positive I've seen some of your paintings in person. How cool is that! Of the paintings I looked at, Northwester is a particular favorite.

I plan to study your landscapes over the next few weeks, as I have a trip to the Tetons and Yellowstone planned. Any general tips you can suggest for landscapes would be very welcome.

yes I think it does go back to that time although I don't know how far back that is. My guess is 15,000 years or so. You just got to come up here as there is so much untouched landscape the feeling is hard to describe. I have been all over North America climbing and exploring. Canada is unbelievable in its landscape, I get the feeling from your photos you would enjoy it very much. A lifetime experience.
Warm regards, Tim

Hi Jim,
Yes the canadian rockies are VERY rugged which allows for some amazing possibilites. Hope you get a chance to come up here ... you will flip once you get an eye full.

Tough lighting. The foreground and background seem to be falling in a shadow while there is a streak of sunlight through the back-middle of the image. If the foreground were in the sun I'd recommend using a ND filter, but I'm not sure that would have worked 100% here. I like this perspective and what is included in this shot. I think you did a very good job given the lighting situation. I very much need to visit Jasper National Park.
