This is a very pretty shot! I like the darkness and the softness, and how it is light only around the head. Very dreamy and romantic. Is that snow on the ground? Have fun experimenting!!
I'd also like to add that even though I do like this image, I think Alastair's advice is good ;o)

All of the suggestions make their point, but I also like the original dark image leaving some to the imagination. Del.

Okay, my turn to have a go. I love this shot!! Great mood and feeling. Love the upward glance, very dreamy. Bummer your batteries died..."note to self...bring spare batteries!!" Here is one I played with a bit.

Hi Samantha. Nice try but I think it is a bit dark. I've had a quick 10 min play around in PS and lightened it up for you a bit. The steps I went through were: 1. Adjust levels to lighten the entire image slightly and bring out a bit more detail 2. Created a selection around you and lightened that further to make you stand out a little more 3. Inverted the selection around you and applied a small amount of gaussian blur to remove a little detail from the background. It also has the effect of creating a very slight halo around you giving a slightly ethereal feel. What do you think? Hope you don't mind my messing with your image?
Regards,
Alastair
