Thanks for your comments on my portfolion, and you are absolutely right that Hortons are naturals when it comes to photography. Your last name is not only awesome, but your first name is the same as my grandson, 16 mo., who has yet to hold a camera but is certainly a good subject.
I should also comment on your amazing paddling prowess (while you are still alive).

THis is more a comment on your whole portfolio than just this picture, though this is a favorite of mine. Your work is great, the discription of this photo really shows how much thought goes into the images you take. I love to travel as well, I just haven't gotten to go off continent in a while . Anyways, cool last name, photography must come easy to Hortons.

I love that the man is staring right into the camera -- like he is willing to share his story. I also like the slight lightness to their expressions they both suggest a certain level of peace. Great capture Tom!

When I painted more often, I firmly believed that the most interesting (human) subjects were not fashion model beauties, but people who obviously had histories. This photo reinforces that belief. The man's gaze and atmosphere feed the soul. I wish I could eat some of the yummy soup that the couple is making.
