About Rules are there to be broken... Noon light is usually unprofitable, but this exquisite cumulus drove me out (it was a hot and sultry day, changing weather).
Circular polarizer + 3 stop grad ND filter, handheld because of slim polarizer. B&W with "Convert to B&W pro", a Red Filter setting and Ilford FP4 characteristics, high contrast. After conversion, added more push to the cloud`s tones with a multiply blended layer mask.

Beautiful job, Carsten. You got phenomenal "push" on this one, with the masking perhaps but also with the initiallly powerful image!

Thank you, Rolf, for this comment - GREAT commendation for me since I try not do overdo my digital work and go for an image that might be bold but doesn`t look unreal.
I`ve had a darkroom myself and I think I can value the merits of a good analogue print.
Regards;
Carsten

Carsten Ranke   {K:14476} 6/5/2005
Carsten

Wonderful. The cloud formation would certainly make you notice. It looks like a monster, hopefully guarding not attacking the trees. Love how you use PS for great effects.

Hi Carsten,

very bold outcome with your BW conversion. You managed to keep good control over the details in the clouds. well done. have to check the "convert to b&W pro".

Fantastic image. The cumulus is perfect and the two trees provide a simple and very effective foreground. Looks like B&W Pro's a great tool in the right hands.

oh wow! amazing! The clouds look like a larer version of the trees in front. Excelent work! The two grayish clouds don't really add to the overall looks. I wouldn't miss them if they were gone :)

I would love to see a color version of this!

The clouds seem to come out from the screen. Veery nice also the composition. The two trees so simmetric seems to form the body of anothe more big tree formed by the clouds.
Nicely done.
Eli:-))

These clouds sure are wonderful and well worth the effort. Beautifully fluffy and wonderful tonal range in this b&w shot.

I agree with your appraisal of rules, also, Carsten.

The two trees play a very important part in this composition and you did very well to find and frame them in this way.

Thanks for your comment, Carsten.
