Good work my friend,
Khaled.

Hey Chris, I guessed the sky was added from the background of the second tree on the right, but the deer! Amazing and tasty work you've done as always!

Ade,
Thanks for the kind comment.
In answer to your question about technique, may I refer to the answer I gave Cessy on my 'Barrington thatch' picture. The key stage with respect to introducing a convincing new sky layer is step five?
Best regards, Chris

very believeable PS'ing

I always have trouble selecting skies and putting new ones in - 99% of times I get a horrible halo aropund the new sky which looks awful - especially with trees.....

Have you some special technique, or is it manual dedication that gets you there?

This is truly impressive, Chris. Aside from a beautiful original scene, what you have done to it is excellent. I believe you even have the shadow of the deer at a consistent angle to the shadows of the trees. Nicely done.

Fantastic PS work, I am speechless how natural the result is. The transition from foliage to sky of the tree on the right gives a faint hint of sky surgery, but the deer - thought it was real before I read the info.

Regards

Carsten

To create the shadow, Barry, I sought to emulate the kind of shadow created by the large tree, as follows?
i. Duplicate the deer layer, then drag it behind the original?
ii. Use the skew and transform tools to distort the duplicate layer to about the right sort of shape?
iii. Use levels to turn the duplicate layer black?
iv. Set the blend mode to overlay?
v. Drop the opacity level to suit.
I hope this helps.
Thanks for the comment.
Best regards, Chris

Fantastic editing! I would never have guessed that the deer was added!
The size scale light and shadow all works together perfectly!
Good choice of adding more clouds, somehow the busy sky and landscape makes the deer more visible, dose it make sense? The deer is standing in the best spot!

Crikey, that's some change from original to end result. How did you create the shadow?

The frame's a bit dazzling, my eyes keep trying to switch from 2D to 3D and back again!

Original image?

I 'dropped in' the sky?

Then the deer?

Then made the shadow for the deer!
