About This is a white tiger at the Mirage Casino in Vegas.

I call this Barely Contained because that's how I view their captivity.
They are bodily in the zoo, but I think in their hearts they must know this isn't what their lives should be like.

I sure do enjoy seeing them though and I believe these are well treated. The program at the Mirage has brought these tigers back from the brink of extinction is what I've been told.

Hope you enjoy!

Well, Susie, you don't really need another comment to tell you what a great capture this is, but I will add my voice to the chorus of well-deserved praise. From other comments I gather that one of these beautiful animals turned on its trainer and killed it? A fearful beast indeed...

EXCELLENT, dear Susie! Very beautiful and so well captured! My best wishes! Alexey. Very expressive pose and lighting! The main colour tone of this picture makes White more White and adds some charm. WONDERFUL, AMAZING!

Susie - I can almost only add a ditto to what everyone else has said. This is a great shot of a magnificant animal - sad though it is that it is not out in the habitat that it has never known. Perhaps one day some of these beautiful creatures can be re-introduced into the jungles where they belong. (as they have started doing with some of the wolves that were almost wiped out.) Thanks for your comments on my photo. Wish I could have gotten a freeze frame shot on those two mocking birds - they were really moving so fast, I don't have had a clue as to what setting I should have used - just shot it on the basic action mode. I'll learn one day. Jan

This is a great capture of a Bengal Tiger. I don't normally go for cats much, but when they look like this and photographed in such a powerful manner, I can't help but be moved.

Glad you left the colour in. It's not a B&W and so really emphasises the natural beauty of this creature.

Well done Susie.
Cheers
Rina

Susie,

It's not any fault of yours, of course? I'm just in a bad mood, regarding the captivity of such fine animals.

Not to mention I just got 16 teeth removed 1 week ago... The pain has curved my opinions... ;)

I feel like a caged animal with no teeth! ;I

Hi Martin,
It's okay to be on a tear! :) I always have reservations about putting photos such as these online. I know that it really rubs some people wrong. But I just post them for their beauty and try to put aside my feelings against captivity.
I appreciate your feelings though! :)
Thanks for all your great comments...I appreciate every single one of them.
Have a great Sunday!
Susie

Beautiful capture Susie..Nice details. I hate to see the majesty of this animal inside a glass cage. This is what he was doing during my visit to Vegas recently.

Cheers

Susie,

Since I'm on a tear this weekend and everybody knows it, I hate pictures of captive animals.

I do have 2 stuffed animals in my folder and I think they suck, simply because they aren't real and I like life... Just testing my new 20D out!

Martin

Excellent shot of the King Susie.
Every time I go to Las Vegas, I like to spend at least 1 hour looking at this majestic cats.
Although tigers are the most colorful creatures in the animal kingdom, the white variety is truly a miracle of nature.
I love the pose, colors and the background.
Thanks for posting this pic.
Take care
Yamil

I too have heard that these white tigers were close to extinction, but they are on the rise back due to this captivity in of all places Las Vegas.

It's sad to see any animal cagged up, their life is more of glamour than the way nature intended them to be.

On the good side millions of people have gotten a chance to see them. I hope to be one of them someday.

The image of the white tiget you have here seems almost unreal due to the environment that this tiger is in. The light blue color makes for a beautiful background against the tigers white fur.

Thanks for sharing. The high ratings are well earned on this photo. 7+!

I Susie a lovely shot of probably the most nobel cat of all. We saw a programme recently and it is horrifying that some of the tiger species is verging on extinction. I am not a lover of zoos but I am a great believer in the organisations that attempt to correct mankind's stupid errors and cruelties. Thank-you Susie. Best wishes. Ray

They are so beautiful, and I worry for their survival too. I love your photo! Look at his paws! It's an interesting composition how he's walking down stripes and of course wears stripes too. This is great. :)

This picture really captures the elegance of the cat. You can almost see the fluid motion of his walk. The intent look on his face is also very interesting.

A very handsome beast Susie!
I'm getting a slight rosie hue on my monitor that looks fine and I'm sure was intentional. (glow from a light maybe)
As far as your about goes, I guess no matter how well wild animals are treated in captivity, there is always a chance for a little mood change in one of them. Just ask Sigfreid,,,, or was it Roy?

WOW!! Wonderful shot of this well pampered baby. These white tigers were bred in captivity by Sigfreid and Roy and they have always been babied and pampered. I'm so happy the Mirage kept them on after the accident. This is one of the best photos I've seen of one of them. Beautiful capture Susie. Well done. Cheers - Ann :)

wow- now that is one beautiful cat! I agree with you completely on their captivity...it seems so sad on one hand and yet we know they would be extinct if not for good captive programs. Wonderful photo with great lighting. Good job!
