I use channel mixer in photoshop with +60 red, +20 green, +20 blue and monochrome to create a B&W base then use a saved curve I played with to get the brown toning, then curves from there... Usually I apply a layer of gaussian blur after that and erase around the eyes or features I want to retain sharpness to...
This shot was not necessarily one I expected to come out very good as it is a bit soft, but I still like it. :)

Klifton, this is very much a favorite of mine of your portraits. Wonderful capture. The look, the tones, the softness. It all came together for this shot. What did you do to achieve this particular tone? I really like it. Angela
