I am not sure a polarizer can solve the harsh midday sunlight, but I find you got the exposure right. I might have taken it not so centered, but I guess you were trying to give a symmetrical impression, and the frame-in-frame arrangement works well.
OH... you wanted the subject to be centered... mmm... I would have moved it a bit to the right, in fact. Other than that, this picture seems that you have shot at almost on a midday. Im not sure if you had used a filter, if not, try a Circular polarizer next time, That would cut down some of that harsh light.
