Rusty, I know how you feel about those low ratings and no explaination. Of course, becareful when you ask for advice some people only give opinions and talk about how inferior your work is. I don't intend to do that, however and lets hope I'm never guilty of it. (sometimes one becomes what they criticize so I need to watch myself)
Now, on to the photo. I personally like it and think it is a really cool shot of the bird taking off. I think you were in the right place at the right time and it is awesome you were able to capture such an amazing moment. I think what would be better would be if you could get some more background in the photo, like more of the post for instance to give an idea of where he is flying from or to. However, I'm not sure how you could do that. When you are capturing a moment there really isn't time to "set-up" a shot. This is real life not posed and for that reason I really like it. Some photographers on here used only posed shots. They do a great job, but then when someone takes a shot in reality they get a little confused because it is not set up. I think the good photos are those that are captured in the moment (not that the other ones are not good...that isn't what I meant. Many of them are awesome too).
Hey guys and gals, I know it's your option... but I'm here to learn! So if your going to give a photo a low rating... then at least tell me why! BTW: The actual photo is alot cleaner and sharper.
