Ash - this looks great! Nice timing! I would try to pick a jump that is not so close to the rail (you can see it in the bottom of the photo) or try to zoom in closer and crop in the standards. OR you can step a foot or so to your left, zoom in more, and shoot verticle. I have cropped his vert so you can see what I mean. Other than that, it looks great! Lovely horse and rider. - Amy Flemming

Very nice capture Ashley. Nice job catching the detail of both horse and rider. Really shows off the gracefulness of the horse in action. Well done.

Thanks Lisa! In horse photography, the most common/popular shots are these. I have a real eye for it (lucky I guess). This is a reeeaaally good example of a good jumping picture:my timing and composition, and the horse as well. In hunters they are supposed to have their knees square over the fence, and Spree almost always jumps in good form. Thats the thing though, you are only half the picture. If the horse doesn't have correct form over the fence, then it pretty much ruins the pic no matter how perfect you were!!

Great action shot. Really love how you caught the horse in midair. THe lighting is very cool as well. I never remember aperature and stuff either. It is awesome how the horse is coming toward the camera.
