About We visited a few zoos last summer and just for fun I thought I'd make a collage out of some the shots I got.
Let's see:
-The monkey and the bear were at Pt Defiance Zoo in Tacoma WA
-The hawk and the gorillas were at Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle, WA
-The lion was at the MGM Grand Lion Habitat in Las Vegas, NV
I certainly have mixed feelings about zoos and captivity, but it is so awesome to see these creatures in real life.

This is a great collage. Your details are marvelous. I love the one with the apes. How can one not smile looking at it? They remind me of an old married couple sitting on the porch watching the world go by. Superb collection.

Hi Susie,

I love the animal collage. The pics are great. The colors are terrific. I know its tough to get decent shots at the zoo but these are great- fine detail, clarity and color all work well together and really work with this collage.

Creative collage, Susie. It makes me laugh! It's probably the serious looking gorilla pair juxtaposed with all the other animal poses.

Nice selection of images Susie. I also have mixed feelings about zoos, but the best ones do a pretty good job at creating as natural a setting for their animals as possible while still allowing visitors to get a good view of the diversity and majesty of the animal kingdom.

Wonderful collage, Susie. A nice collection of pics, especially the Gorillas. Makes me think of a caveman with his spear in his hand and his missus by his side. Cheers, Ann.

One lazy monkey, one wet polar bear, one lounging lioness, one alert falcon and two VERY intimidating gorillas...at least some of their true characteristics still shine even if they are in captivity. A great collage Susie!
Take care...Robin

I love the way each image takes me to the next one and around the zoo we go. The colours and wonderful and the clarity and details in each photos is excellent Susie. Fantastic idea for a collage and beautifully done. A super image. Great work.

Hi Susie,
On our most recent trip to the Metro Toronto Zoo, about the only animals that didn't look miserable were the lions. They seem to hold their dignity in captivity. That's kind of why I gave my lion images that title.
The Toronto Zoo has a huge amount of land for a lot of the animals, and they still seem to realize they are in captivity.

Hi Andre!
No, I didn't really have a theme in mind putting this together, they were just some of the best ones I came up with. But yes, they do all look somewhat sad.
The lion(ess?) seemed very content and happy in her surroundings. The MGM's program seems very sound I think they treat their lions very well.
The polar bear bothered me a bit though. He seemed rather lethargic and really not all that interested in eating even. Maybe bored?
The gorillas were very playful, although there was one juvenile that seemed to have some sort of mental problem.
So I certainly have mixed feelings about these places, but am still drawn to them because I love animals so much. ) And they are challenging to photograph! I just hope that most zoos treat the animals well.
Susie

Hi Susie,
Nice job on this collage. I love the gorilla image down at the bottom.
Zoos can be such sad places sometimes. Even the best of them don't seem to be big enough for the animals.
Come to think about it none of the above animals look very happy, do they?
Did you pick those particular images for that reason?
Andre

Well done collage Susie! I love the lighting on the lion. The creatures are amazing and though I love to go to the zoo it makes me so sad too - to see them in their little cages!

Zoos and animal captivity are certainly emotive subjects. I would wish for harsher legislation in assuring that only the very best of conditions became allowable in the World's zoos.

Having got that out of my system you have got five wonderful compositions in this brilliant collage Susie. The details and colours are wonderful...my favourite?...hmmm... a tied event between Mr and Mrs....and that fabulous polar bear. Well done sweetie...I see yours and other collages and wonder why I even try:):):) Very best wishes to you as always, hope business is going great at the best Cafe in the USofA...Ray

two more very nice pic, and this great collage since my last visit Susie. Don't know where I can start. Let me tell you that I really like the three of them. All wrap up (great smile and so cute little girl), Blake (so cute and very nice composition) and my prefered pic of this collage, the gorillas. Very good job again Susie.

This is a blast, Susie! One picture better than the other, I love the gorillas, but also the falcon, and the lioness and the polar bear, I think the gorillas are the most "human" in attitude, so funny, like they're watching a football game - and their team is losing - LOL :)
Great use of the collage, one of your best, next to the Chihuly one, of course! Hugs, Ina
