Great portrait. Reminds me of Karsh doing Hemmingway!!
Good job.

Ah medium format and good lighting! What more can be said. Yea, he could move the head a bit and lower the chin, but this is good B&W portraiture as it is.

I like the pose and the lighting and the fact that it's a floate is ok. No distractions in the way of the subject. Great. However, it looks grainy to me. Possibly just the scan. I think this dramatic an image needs to be razor sharp. Like I said, maybe it's the scan. Shyfox

Very nice portrait, Phillip's points notwithstanding. I think his suggestions will make it a much better rounded photograph. The lighting, exposure, and sharpness are spot on for me.

Kewl Pic Scott:
Personally, I'd like to see him rotate his head maybe 1" toward you so you can see more of his left eye. The bridge of the nose is cutting throught it. Chin down around 1" as well. I'd like to see some fill on his sweater. With the black background, and black sweater/shirt, you have what I've shot in the past as a floater. Meaning no base for the head ;)
I like the overall tones in the pic, and feeling I get when look at it.
Post more if you have 'em ;)
Regards,
