About
This is a do-over of two similar pictures I posted last year (e.g., http://www.usefilm.com/Image.asp?ID=763383). When I have time, I'd like to go back and take several dozen more.
Thanks for your critique. I agree with your comment about the photo needing more "randomness." It wasn't until I got home that I realized this one was so linear. It is better that the first couple of photos, but I think the randomness would get it closer to "perfect." I'll try, again, next time I get a chance. Thanks, again.
Cool shot, Chad - and a bit pf photographic pun. The sharp stop is labelled "scharf" or sharp! The effect would have been enhanced if the one foreground stop was blurred a bit. Eb
Hi Chad, without doubt, this is the best of the Organ Stops images I've found in your portfolio. The right details in focus, the DOF, the geometrical alignment, the way you've filled the image. A considerable improvement.
Yet, I think I would've tried a few other approaches, although I'm not sure they would've had the desired effect (let alone the fact that I'm not aware of what you had in mind)
I think tilting the camera a bit, creating a more "random mash" of the stops would've removed the geometry a bit, adding to the dynamism that is already introduced with the shallow DOF, as well as introduced a more diagonal composition, which I tend to like more than horizontally or vertically arranged photos.
Another thing is that I would've tried to single out a single stop, making it the sole primary subject by zooming in a bit more. I think that might've had the same effect and told the same story about the subject, but telling it with fewer items in view. Maybe that would've given the photo just a bit more impact.
