Fantastic (classic) landscape shot!! Wonderful colors, super view/scale and the 'lone rider' is a great addition (do I detect a little 'Dutch ancestory' trade there... LOL), excellent composition... well captured!!

Hi Ann, this is the Indian. He will have to chase himself this time. The Navajo Indians have complete control of this area. The run all the guided tours, police the area and charge the admission. When I first visited many years ago you would just drive in. Thanks, Don.

Breathtaking composition my dear Don. The textures and details are stunning and the depth is awesome. The features created by light and shade look fantastic. Well done in having the inclusion of a 'western' hero with horse to provide the scale to this immense area.
I was all behind again but caught up slowly but surely and I have just noticed that I have reached today; what a relief. My very best wishes to you as always....Ray

Wow!!!! This is brilliant. That cowboy just adds so much to the already magnificient scenery. Now if I could just find the Indians. Cheers, Ann.

The embodiment of the wild west, at least judging from a perspective broadly influenced by spagetti westerns. Fantastic scenery, Don! What an overlook! Very pleasing image; the cowboy in the lower right quadrant creates a very strong reference to the sheer size of the structures an the vastness of the vista.

Cheers,

Hugo

Hey Don,
Thanks for the tip. The Instructor from my photography school takes a group out there every year and he says he is real close friends with a Navahoj guide and he will be taking us to out of the way parts of the park by Jeep.
I hope I can get a shot or two as good as yours.
Bill

Hi Bill, I took this picture on Monday afternoon. If you are there when Gouldings brings some of their tours over this indian will ride his horse out on the point for them. As soon as he starts to come back leave as on of the squaws will come around and want money for you taking the picture. Have fun. We hired a guide on Tuesday and four of us got our own tour in to the other reaches of the Park and then also we went to Mystery Valley. Had never been to the part. It is several miles south of the Mounument entrance and only guides can take you in. Don.

Hey Don,
Wonderful shot, I'm leaving for Monument Valley on Sunday. We're also going to Bryce Canyon, Zion Nat. Park, and the Slot Canyons near Paige AZ.
Your photo is exactly like one My instructor has, horse and all. I think it's on the same spot.
Man I just can't wait to get there.
Nice work.
Bill

Beautiful shot Don,
Like you say, this scene is familiar to many of us old enough to remember those classic films. Very nostalgic. You can almost hear the sound track!

Beautiful photograph, Don.
And how perfect is this? ....a horse with a person in red with a white hat. Couldn't have planned it any better if you'd tried.

A spectacular image, captured nicely.

Have a GR8 evening,
Lori :)

Wonderful capture of this fantastic scenery, Don! It's great having the horse and rider there for human interest and scale. Exceptional colour and details.
Dave.
