Thank you for your comments. I do appreciate them. I am trying to learn how to use my Pentax P3 that I've had for 20-25 years. And I am determined to master it. I am just finishing an on-line photography class, but have decided I want more than I've gotten from that. So I have signed up for the New York Institute of Photography course. As I said, I am determined to use that camera and take great pictures.
I am going to go and take more pictures of that fence and see how they turn out.
hi and thanks for adding me to your FL (friend's list)...just so you know, lately i am more out than in at UF,but eventually check on what i have missed.....i love this style of ironwork with the fleur-de-lis detailing, the depth of field (dof),the dusky tone, and the flat contrast level which gives it a vintage look...i read below that this isn't the result you had hoped for,but honestly i think it has a very nice appeal,Anne Sometimes a "mistake" has a silver lining! regards, gayle
Chris, Thanks for your comments. To be honest, there wasn't any soft focus here. When I took the picture, the scene through the viewfinder had the fence in focus with the background out of focus, which is what I was working on. When I got the film back the fence was not sharply in focus. And I definitely agree with you about the black & white being nice and sharp.
This is actually a Munsters type of house and the fence is on the street near where I work. I do want to go back and take some more pictures of it.
