About
From my "Deconstructive Advertising" series... a play on the semi-ungrammatical campaign, the irony of a large mass commercialized corporation expounding individualism, and the authority of who really teaches us those values...thanks to opera star Katherine Hannibal for posing.
Hi Eric, great series (so far) and I think the idea and creative type of irony is brilliant. Absolute (no pun intended) winners material. A pity the rather poor image quality reduces the impact of the message a bit, but I think that could be fixed fairly easy if you's spend a bit more time in the postprocessing.
Thanks for the feedback. I like the suggestion to trim the top a bit more. Unfortunately, for commercial use, I would lose too much to fulfill the standard dimensions, but I think I will make an exhibition version as you suggest.
And for consistency sake with the whole series, I need the Apple to maintain the veritablility of the ad...c'est la vie.
i think this would be far better with a bit cropped off the top, just below the top edge of the board. try it, even just by scrolling down in your browser window--now your eyes aren't drawn up to that dark corner, they fix on her expression and drift to the overlaid text. also, i don't know that the apple logo contributes much here. there's probably some way to keep the allusion while also pushing towards a more creative implication.
otherwise quite effective, good composition with the dark line down the middle of her pale arm (though the pixelation is odd).
