Hi Fred, thanks for the comments! The lens at the 57mm end is actually equivelant to 370mm in 35mm terms, which is what I used in the macro mode to get that effect. With these types of lenses and sensor sizes it's sometimes hard to get that shallow dof without really thinking about it!

Dave: The local bulb flowers are finally up here too. Mostly on the sunny sides of the streets. Nice out-of-focus background considering the focal length of the lens.

My wife was just counting ours this morning. We have nearly 70 now. I guess I'm keeping the squirrels full of peanuts, so they aren't digging up as many bulbs.
