This is excellent Dave my friend. The details you have captured in that black fur are wonderful. I love too the sparkle in the eye and the perfect dof heightens the impact. Well done to you my good friend. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray

Hi Nick, thanks for the comment! I think the dark blue tones are due to the varying light in the shade of the forest. I'm not sure about the stick in his nose, though!
Dave.

Very very good hues here, and I especially mean that good saturated black, Dave! (Something more about it later on.) The focus kept the best details on the face of the sympathetic animal, and so its appearance is vivid and real. There seems to be a loss of focus further back on thecontours of its tail, but as the fur shows up so rich and soft it seems to enhance the very own look of the squirrel. Also, a great timing for getting its typical "pose".

I only think that I see some very dark blue tones on its black fur. Are they normal?

Cheers!

Nick

P.S.: And BTW... does it have a small stick inits nose, or what is that?

Hi Allen, thanks for the comment! This shot was taken in Ottawa, Ontario, and the black variety is quite common there. Here in Winnipeg we don't have them either, only reds and grays.
Dave.

Squirrels! The bane of my existence! I can hardly feed the birds around here because of the squirrels.
Very nice shot, btw. What's that up its nose?

Another nice wildlife capture, Dave. We olnly have gray squirells in my area, so this guy is unusual. Good capture.

Must be a male squirrel, his ears look like bite marks from other squirrels.
