Thanks Leora . . . you're probably right about the ad. There are no driveways on one side of the street only, since the alley is behind those houses and the garages face the alley. On the other side of the street . . . there are driveways and garages, but no alley: each house's backyard separated from the next by fencing.

This would make a great ad if they were all different color VW Beetles in front of every house. Interesting that there are no driveways, so the cars have to be out front.

Thanks Hugo! I haven't heard the song before but I can see a connective feel to the lyrics. For some reason it has a very British feel to it, I almost hear Paul McCartney . . . Thanks for the comment!

Thank you Sheila. Arguably less stitching here than my grandmother did on quilts . . . but then again . . . I'm a guy!

Hi Doyle, this might be a bit far fetched, but this photo is the embodyment of "Well Respected Man" by the Kinks. In case you don't know it:
’cause he gets up in the morning, And he goes to work at nine, And he comes back home at five-thirty, Gets the same train every time. ’cause his world is built ’round punctuality, It never fails.
And he’s oh, so good, And he’s oh, so fine, And he’s oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He’s a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively.
And his mother goes to meetings, While his father pulls the maid, And she stirs the tea with councilors, While discussing foreign trade, And she passes looks, as well as bills At every suave young man
’cause he’s oh, so good, And he’s oh, so fine, And he’s oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He’s a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively.
And he likes his own backyard, And he likes his fags the best, ’cause he’s better than the rest, And his own sweat smells the best, And he hopes to grab his father’s loot, When pater passes on.
’cause he’s oh, so good, And he’s oh, so fine, And he’s oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He’s a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively.
And he plays at stocks and shares, And he goes to the regatta, And he adores the girl next door, ’cause he’s dying to get at her, But his mother knows the best about The matrimonial stakes.
’cause he’s oh, so good, And he’s oh, so fine, And he’s oh, so healthy, In his body and his mind. He’s a well respected man about town, Doing the best things so conservatively.
Not quite sure why, but I always get a similar (perhaps slightly more British) image in mind when I hear that song...
Very well captured and stitched image, the image quality is superb.
Cheers,
hugo
