I dont think you should be kicking yourself, this is really a cool shot Rob. When the feeling in a shot is strongest, I think the technical details are irrelevant. You seem to capture that patriotic spirit very well. For me, its kinda your signature.

Hi Doyle...I am so kicking myself for not using a slower shutter speed with a much higher f-stop; would definitely gone with f-22 if I had to do it over. I totally spaced out when I was shooting it because I was so excited to get the shot before the rays disappeared. LOL :)

Great and dramatic capture here Rob . . . but I'm curious. There seems to be some faint rays emanating diagonally. Would a slower shutter speed have enhanced them? That's first. Second . . . if you had this to do over again, what F/stop would you choose? Just curious, not a critique on this image which is (naturally) top notch!

Fantastic perspective to this capture and the exposure against that wonderful moody sky is wonderful. Certainly a capture of the SoL that is rarely seen. I really like this Rob, thanks for sharing.

What a wonderful perspective here Rob! The rays are really super! Almost as if Her torch were lighting the sky! Well done Rob! Take care!..................John

Thanks Larry! I really appreciate the kind words; that is exactly what I was going for when I shot her & I am very happy that is what you're taking away from it. Thanks!

Love the composition and the dramatic sky and giving the sky the larger portion of the picture making Lady Liberty even more dramatic. Well done.
