The old Dacia is still in the center of attention...

Yes it's true, Dorina, and not just in Romania, of course. And it's not for you to be sorry - in reality I find Romania a very friendly place.

I can answer to your question, if you like...: remember there was 'Securitate' (the internal special spy-forces), and for so many years in Romania, that everybody learned not to trust anybody. Especially a person with a camera. 1 million intellectuals/ artists/ students against the ex-regime were deported to Siberia in the communism ( so until 1989), uuuuuuufffffffff and so much more stories... so I can get it. Sorry about that, it is not about not being friendly, it is about being afraid. Almost every family has a bad history, that's all. all the best to you, dorina

PS: Thanks for the Dacia Goon image . . . I will add a new rule to my Photographer's Fieldbook . . .

Having seen both now I have to agree with you . . . the posted version is the stronger. I'm not sure why . . . unless, as you say . . . the BG offsets it. The uncentered Dacia, to my eye has a much weaker BG - especially in the upper-left quadrant. No contest to me, I'd have gone the same way you did (but would have anticipated the critique)! :)

Hi Doyle. Many thanks for your insightful comment. To be honest, the centred composition was entirely intentional - I hoped the background would offset it. But how about this as an alternative?

Great melange of varying colors - all rich and well saturated. The centered car is a bit of a weakness in the composition (IMO) and I'd have liked to see the right side crop a bit farther to the right to throw the centrality out. I do very much like the details and various points of interest for the eyes to seek out. Intriguing about section too John . . . I think I would have liked to see the shot of him waving his arms and yelling at you but prudence is probably a better idea. :)

A sign of the times, I think, John. Everyone is a little bit paranoid these days. A pity. We miss out on some glorious photos because of it, but not this time. An excellent street capture. Do the pedestrians have to walk on the road? Cheers, Ann.

Most likely they thought you were from the sanitation department John; look at this shop, it's the pits. lol.
Joking aside, good to see another shot of Bucuresti.

This is a good shot with strong colors and it is sharp as a tack. As one alternate you might consider a tighter, slightly off center crop (There is a bit of room at the front of the image.) But this is a minor suggestion. Thanks for your honest critique of my image. Sarah
