Thankyou Jinggoy. When I use a monopod I find it a little awkward, especially for high overhead angles. It's easier to carry, but I usually use a tripod for bird images. For the 500 I normally use a Wimberley sidekick on an Arca Swiss B1 ballhead fitted on a 1348 tripod. I know, the full Wimberley is better and probably a little safer but I wanted versatility from the sidekick and of course it is a lot cheaper. I often envy you guys with the slightly shorter lenses, which are easier to swing around and of course easier to find moving objects. The best setup for moving small objects would be an outstanding sensor with a 300-400 lens. You notice that most of my good images are of perched birds, in contrast with your excellent portfolio of action pics.

Great capture of a natural moment. I had the pleasure of observing a pair of Merlins raise three chicks in our back yard. Amazing critters. Well done.
