About This is the color version of the last image I posted.
It's just a convenient vista for me that I see from my living room each day. You may notice that same sahuaro cactus in 5 other shots I've posted. I call him "Hercules." He's my most cooperative model. :~)

I don't think Hercules wants to be hugged....LOL. Very funny model...gorgeous blues in that sky, beautiful light and exposure, love the whites of those clouds...a lovely view and minimalist composition..excellent work, and ewwwww I just got a Rocky tip...set the white balance to Tungsten, in RAW conversion right? Wonderful depth in this image too...lovely work...gobs and gobs of hugs to you...Linda

Hi Daniel,
Yes, I do use a polarizing filter on some of my shots. However, not on this one. I shoot all my shots in RAW and for "sky-shots" I always set the white balance to "Tungsten." This helps to push the blues. Thanks for the kind words. ~ Warm regards, Rocky

How did you get the sky so blue? You used a polarising filter right?
Great colors Rocky

Hi Tim,
I felt the mountainscape gave the image a size and distance reference point (especially using the wide angle lens). Cropping the mountains out would also crop off part of the cactus which IMHO would diminish it.

That being said, however, I do know what you're talking about and taking another shot of this (under the right sky again) could give the cactus a "monolithic" feeling without the mountains in the shot. Good eye and thanks for the suggestion!
~ Warm regards,
Rocky

Looks familiar, beautiful nature shot, it might look cool also if you cropped out the mountains below, the cactus might seem more powerful that way.-Tim
