Hi Michele,
Glasswork is one of the most difficult objects for a photographer, to my opinion and experience. There are 3 workfields I don't control yet; portraits, street and glasswork. On the first two I'am exercising now. Glasswork I have to start with, because my brother has a company in design glasswork and he wants me to deliver the photos. He delivers to retailers and want photos of his new collection. You can understand that I hesitated.
I am experienced but used to work with available light. Only I discovered - although I tried hard - that this is not enough to deliver good glasswork images.
I studied the matter and discovered that I had to learn to work with - my English is not so well - what is called "lightboxes". Constructions to enlighten but indirectly.
What I see in your image is the same that I did. Flashlight (white spots) and a lot of mirrorkind reflections (the center) that guide the attention away from the object.
I think you succeeded to register the fine colors, specially the red and blue.
I hope I didn't offend you, because I never would want that to happen. It's just my experiences I wanted to share.
I also saw your other photos and the majority look very fine. This is just the most difficult task one could try to accomplish.
I shall let you know about my humble trying to make photos of the glasswork, also if I don't succeed. Sharing the lessons, could bring a lot to learn for both of us. I of course am interested in your discoveries on this challenge.
Hope I didn't talk to much, I just try to be open and as honest as possible. Please don't pay to much attention to this comment, you know I'am just an amateur.
Greetz, Albert
