Love this picture.
Original, because these cats are always photographed fully alert, ready to pounce or taking down prey, whereas what they spend most of their day doing is precisely dozing!
DOF and focus are great. (It is true that shadows are slightly bluish.)
Really excellent.

Thanks Eb for the time took to comment on so many of my photos - your comments are always very relevant and highly valued. Sad to say - its not a new lens, I pinched my brother's lens. We were three brothers running around, each with a Nikon, tripod etc. You can imagine! What a great time! Joggie

Even with the 400mm. you would have had to be really close, Joggie! I would definitely let this one sleep! Great print quality and composition in the dappled shade! As one writer points out, the colour temperature is different for the shade. I did not notice until it was pointed out so it may not be a problem for most viewers. The colour balance can be selectively adjusted. Looks like you may have acquired a new lens!? Eb

Nice image, great detail with crisp sharpness. The DOF is perfect for the subject and this image. My one critique would be that it would be a far more striking image had the cheetah had it's eye's open. That would have been a more difficult shot in the shadows present, even in bright sunlight difficult to capture the eyes. All said and done, better than I have achieved.

Very nice image. I like the way the colors of the animal and the background match. Only the shade on cheetah's chin looks a bit too blue to me (or should i calibrate my monitor?).
