Hi Virgis, I did some very slight adjustment, but not as much as you would imagine. The sunset was fabulous that night. One of the most spectacular I've ever seen. I didn't know it at the time, but this spot is known for it's dramatic sunsets. There were a few people scattered on the beach with tripods turned in every direction. I wasn't really prepared, but I'm happy with the shots I got. There are a couple of others from the same time posted close by to this one. Andre

What a dramatic light! The red clouds seem even too much saturated but I believe what you said about the sunset. Sometimes it looks unbelievable. So this is excellent image, Andre. Virgis

Thanks Darlene, I was loosing the light very quickly with these shots. There were many where I didn't have the same kind of luck as this one. There were quite a few that I thought were okay on the small lcd preview, but unfortunately that was not the case when blown up to a decent size. There were a couple of people that had set up close by with tripods. That made perfect sense. The area is known for it's fantastic sunsets. I didn't know that until I got there, or I might have brought a tripod. :) Andre

Gorgeous red sky Andre! I love the perspective, very well done my friend! And hand held at slow shutter speed...very impressive. My hand is not that steady! Take care! Darlene

Thank you again Fadel, This was one of those scenes where I seemed to have so many options in the post processing. I like them both too. Andre

After another look I really like this one too, the thickness of the red in the sky makes it unique, beautiful work Andre!

Hi Ray, I'll let you in on a little secret on this image. The building is not someone's little romantic get-away, but simply a beach change house and facilities maint. building, in the middle of a parking lot. I didn't really want to put that in the about because I thought it would spoil the mood. Ah!!! the illusion of photography :) Andre

AWESOME Andre and I was relieved to read that it was a red sky at night.......etc. I love all those strongly toned layers to your composition; the contrasts in the two areas of sky and that of the grassland and then perched amidst it all someones' dwelling place. I love too the perspective which places the greatest emphasis on that glorious sky and the great details in the grasses. Well done to you my friend. My very best wishes to you as always......Ray:)

Thanks Toshi, I had thought about the kind of crop you mentioned. I think the reason I stayed away from that was because I was afraid I might lose too much quality when I resized it. I have already cut quite a bit away from this one as it is. But I do agree with you. I have also done a B&W version of this with a different crop that even shows more of the bottom of the dunes. I'll post it later on. The B&W is much more muted and portrays a different mood because of it. This one is sort of more like eye candy. The sky was just spectacular that night. Andre

Thanks Rina, It was a great sunset, in every direction! I was only kidding about the composite, of course. Funny that we both had negative space on the opposite sides of the images. If we put them together we would just have a picture of a house and a tree :) I think it's better to leave well enough alone :) Andre

Wow, fire in the sky! It's amazing how nature provides these amazing and beautiful scenic views - and you've done an excellent job capturing it Andre. Since this is the CC section I'll add my input; personally, I may have cropped a slight more on the bottom. Other than that, awesome work.

Spectacular colours Andre, you did well getting the detail in the grass without blurring it - you must have steady hands. I like the composition too with the top of the house giving a secondary 'eye resting' point after the initial hit of the clouds.

Amazing abrupt change in colour, it's fantastic drama, almost as though the clouds are on fire. I mean, I see the term "sky on fire" used a lot to describe colours, but this actually DOES look like that. I like that we can only see the roofline peeking up beyond the hill too. Just the right amount so as not to steal the show from above. Great pov Andre. I wonder what a composite of our two images would look like, eh? ;)

Hi Kes, I'm sure a few people may comment on the sky looking artificial. Thing is, it really did look like that. Truth is stranger than fiction sometimes :) Andre

Super shot, Andre! Red, green, blue - what more do you need? Well, you added a structure to add some brown & white, while giving depth to the shot. Handheld, steady as a rock!
Love that sky!
Cheers, Kes
