I like what you did - here is the addition of glow in Picasa to fuzz it up a bit.

How romantic! |

yes, better :)
I just bought a 150mm Sigma 2.8 So sharp and quiet, focusing from 38cm/15in!!! http://www.sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3283&navigator=5
and sometimes with a borrowed 105mm Nikkor-DC 2.0 and Nikon 50mm 1.4 (both for portraits and also flowers)

I think you have something there.
It's better, but still lacks that glow you have in your shots. Are you using a 105 mm Sigma macro lens? There's some great Bokeh.

better? |

I forgot to add that it wasnt impossible with the main image.. too bright light on petals. Of course we could crop Option 2 image.

IMHO you decided on the worst image of those three. Petals are overexposed. The best is Option 2. I add the image converted in my newly invented way ;) Details on petals are nicely visible and DOF is still nice.

A third to choose from - middle amount of DOF with background flowers.

More DOF shows off the two flowers symettrically arranged behind the main flower.
