About This photograph is from my first shot at IR photography set. I did not have my tripod so I balanced my camera on a ledge (!) and managed to get this one shot.

Hi Alejandra,,
When you open and edit Jpeg you lose image quality as opposed to Tiff. You can print from Tiff. This is my work flow but because I used the same camera for IR and birds and don`t like changing the settings I shoot to accomodate both.
But if shooting IR only...
ISO 200,WB,,,Flourescent+3 or custom WB with the R72 FILTER on,Low contrast,low sharpening.Hue -9
RAW mode.
photoshop
create an action
Auto levels
Channel Mixture output channel RED
Red from 100 to 0 bLUE from 0 to 100
output channel Blue
Red from 0 to 100
Blue from 100 to 0
hit enter or ok
stop action

Color Balance play around with the sliders until you get what you want.
HUE/SATURATION,,,this setting will gives you blue skies and white vegetation, manipulate the various colors for more precise controls.Going -all the way in hue/sat will gives you b&w but Channel mixture with MONOTONE BOX check will give you better image.Curves will give you weird colrs but don`t over do it.Brightness/contrast to your liking.Sharpen or soften as you wish.
When shooting Raw to convert to Jpeg
IMAGE/MODE/8BIT and save as Jpeg.
You can use your normal camera setup for IR as I am doing now.I normally shoot in manual mode at f8-11.If there is dark areas try EV +.3 or .7
if the sky is overexpose EV-.Hope this helps.
Take care
Robbie

Robert- Thanks for your comment and helpful tips. I truely appreciate it. I would love to know your work flow. Also, what's the benefit to saving Tiff vs. jpg? If you are going to print pics, do you have to convert to jpg anyway?

Lovely tones Alejandra,love it!!
I won`t critisize you for cutting off the top of the building because you can`t see thru the filter plus it`s only a test shot.B&W conversion is the easy part, hope you are using the Channel Mixter. If you are interested in doing color let me know so I can give you my work flow.
The D70 for IR is as good as it gets.Just noticed your exposure which I find surprisingly slow for the D70.I normally shoots at f8-11 at ISO 200 on a tripod. With PS CS why don`t you shoot in RAW and save your image in Tiff not Jpeg.
Take care and congrats on a very nice work.

Terrific exposure. I even like the sun-spot! It seems to add something to the image as a whole.
Nicely done!
