Thanks Dave - Yes, we have 5 aloes which can be classified as true trees, this species Aloe dichotoma reaching heights of 5 - 8 meters are found in the more arid parts of the Northern Cape and Southern Namibia. The biggest Aloe in South Africa, Aloe barbarae, occuring in the coastal thicket and forests along the eastern seaboard can reach heights of up to 18 meters. Marvelous specimens! Joggie

Am I correct in understanding your title? This is an aloe plant? Wow, I've never seen one this huge, they are all ground level here.
I think this works well in black and white, Joggie.
Best wishes, Dave

It does Joggie... :)
The light is hard and strong, suits the equally strong lines of the aloe and rocks creating nice solid shadows... Lots of light and shade, lots of tactile surfaces...
Love the perspective and composition...
Excellent... :)

It works beautifully in B&W, Joggie. The cubic masses, that make the photo for me, have excellent shades and tridimentionality in grey tones. Joggie this picture is really beautiful, so well balanced, composed, exposed! In my fav. of course. Take care.

Lovely capture, I love the tones in this shot. I think a coloured version would be more distracting. Very well done
