About OK this is THE first image I am posting from my new NikkonD40 ...
It shows the greenery before totally covered in snow .... and DOF .
Stuff . . . . ... . I could NEVER do before even by accident.
I and do realize it may take me time to catch back up with my self
I hope Someone, likes this ... but it's Ok if they don't . I know I have enough images that there is one ...Some Day Everyone will Like .
PLUS I never realized all of the camera questions I would need to answer . . .. So I will also have them clear to answer as well.
Thank You

Mich,

Congrats on the new DSLR my friend. You have opened up a door to a whole new world of learning opportunities, indeed...

I can't remember if you ever shot with a film SLR, but a DSLR works very simular, except there is no film and you can change ISO and film color with the click of a switch... ;)

Feel free to ask me anything you don't quite understand and I'll try my best to help you out. I don't have a Nikon, but I'll be able to answer most questions you might have...

Have fun and don't worry about doing it wrong, just shoot away, post then ask questions, since that's what we all are here for...

Congrat's once again, as I'm excited for you girl,

Marty

PS. Did you sleep with it last night? Hahaha, I know you did... kekeke

Hi Michele,

Great DOF, you really managed this !

The larger your diafragma, the opening that lets the light through, the smaller the number and the smaller the DOF. So F4.0 leads to much more unsharpness behind the subject than for example F29.0.

If you need some help, don't hesitate to ask. It will be a pleasure to help you. You have my e-mail.

Wish you great shots and lot of fun with your new camera.

All the best for you and yours,
Albert Jacobs :)

OK, here we go - and straight away: look at the detail and DOF! I think your "about" says it all. Now just go for it and enjoy it!

I'd echo Dave re the manual: go through it once with the camera, then put it aside. Look through again a month later and you may find that suddenly lots of questions floating around in your head are answered.

Ahhh, those speckles again, Michele?? Do you know what is causing them??

While Robert says don't get bogged down in the manual... do yourself a big favor and sit with your camera in a comfy place and go through it at least once... pick something like an opposite wall and take pictures with different settings... and see what the difference makes. Remember, this is digital, photos are free and easily deleted.
