I'm absolutely speechless - finally I've found rock solid proof to convince my wife why should I buy expensive lenses... Sharpness of this image, colour rendition just make me go faint... Sharp as you could cut your finger on it! Lovely pose, I should start with this, great eye contact and composition; lovely DOF. Absolutely marvelous shot - top notch! Congratulations on the award, well earned!

Thanks Ann, there's no fingers involved, you have to use a pair of tongs, and there's also a very strong large fence of maybe 2" grid. M and Sue were both impressed to be so close, but also glad of the protection....lol

Congratulations, Mel, on your BIP. I'm surprised the zoo lets you actually feed the tiger, with the way litigation is today. Nice one. Cheers, Ann.

Thanks AJ. Yes, I think everyone is dragging out their big cat shots now that theres a wildlife project....they were all overlooked before. I certainly hope he's happy too, because without the zoo I would never have been able to see one up close. Well....this close, anyway....he was around 15m away, across the moat.

Thanks so much Jan. I'm sure the tiger would have eaten her hand, and for free, but she had to pay the zoo $50 to be able to get close enough to do so!!! Unfortunately the feeding was done in a very dark area, so all the shots I have of the feeding don't show enough detail, but it was very exciting to watch!

There seem to have been quite a few tiger and lion shots on UF recently - is everyone down the zoo?

This one stands out for me - a classic shot of this beautiful animal. Perfectly exposed in quite a convincing environment. Hope he's happy, despite being confined.

Mel -- This is a wonderful portrait that renders detail we don't normally notice in these beautiful creatures; like the nose. I never realized how well defined and interesting the nose is. This crisp and colorful portrait really pops out at you. Wonder why you would pay someone $50 to eat your hand? Seems to me the tiger would gladly do it for free. :)
--Best to you, Jan
