Albert -- In no way does the age or gender of Yum Yum effect my reaction to the portrait. In fact I often use the term "puppy" to refer to any dog when they are so darn cute (but in this case I really though Yum Yum was much younger). A careful look at the hair on the chin and elsewhere would have been the tip off but I was so taken by the picture that I did not survey Yum Yum's hair texture or the maturity of features. Enjoy the love of family and pets!!!!!! --Best to you, Jan

Hello Jan,
I can image that you think this is a puppy. But Yum Yum is one of our two "Cavalier King Charles spaniels", as they call them (officially). We got her later because she was of no more use for breeding. She is the mother of our other Cavalier "Lotje". At this moment she was about 5 years old, was always in a cage, and never used to be outside at the sea. So she really enjoyed this trip with total freedom and expanded her space and of course became very tired of all these possibilities... At that moment I took my camera and this shot of my dear wife and Yum Yum. These dogs are rather small, but very fast (hunting type). You see them much at old English paintings of the 16 th century. Now they are getting more popular again. Hope that doesn't spoil their beautiful character. The two doggies like to live with us, close to the forest and waters (they like water).
Friendly greetz, Albert Jacobs

Albert -- This goes down as one super fine puppy picture. Excellent detail, color, composition and of course the wonderful puppy subject!!!! I am adding this one to my favorites. The color contrast of the cloth really enhances this fine portrait. --Best to you, Jan PS: you broke the cute meter with this one. :)
