Hmm, when I look to the crop I also have the feeling that something is wrong, Diego! You are right, the shadow is important, and shouldn't be cut off. So, better to keep that man there, as he is only the background while the shadow belongs to the main actor.

Such images, with a strong social statement, are indeed great. They document the worls as is and not "beautifying" it with the short-sighted arguments of those who only sit comfortably in their armchairs. Thus, photography is way more than depiction of a pseudo-happiness and pseudo-harmony that never existed. The permanent usage of "nice flowers" and "sweet cats" could take our minds too far away from a conscious way to observe what happens on this world. And what happens on this worls includes also many too many too many unfair, ugly, bad things. If the photographer doesn't show them, who else is going to show them?

Again, bravo for your strong and courageous work with this image. Keep up blasting the images of truth to each human of discourse!

Nick

hi Nick,

also I wanted to eliminate that man on the left, I was uncertain because I did not want to cut the shadow of the main subject...

perhaps your version is better...

they are proud to have stimulated many reflections on the argument of the poverty with this my shot,

regards
.diego.

Though it is overexposured at many places, it is strong indeed, as it depicts directly and without any intention to "simulate" anything at all, the incomprehensible contrast of rich and poor on our world.

After thousands of years of history the whole spectrum of philanthropic/religious/philosophical/political (pseudo)efforts dodn't manage to change anything. Add the inacceptably one-sided distribution of wealth over the world and you get a further mental step from this picture to the international situation. At the end, no government, no heroes of philanthropy, no political aid, no God and no Devil can help changing something to the better, as long as we believe them too strongly, where a little bit of old good logical thinking would be enough to dismiss them and to trust much more what we see and hear than their hollow promises.

Diego, I attached a slightly cropped image for leaving the partially captured person at the left completely off image. I think that the composition is better this way.

Best wishes,

Nick.

P.S.: The reason for indifference is the consequent denial to think logically and sincerely about it's reasons in our own selves.

Title and image so moving- her head so low. Makes you wonder about that lady's whole previous life. A shadow of her former self- so her real shadow seems apt. A very striking image Diego.
