Thanks Jim. Yes, it was Photoshop. Quite simple. Add a stroke to a desaturated duplicate layer, then a rectangular mask over the left half of the image and the warp tool to draw the effect from the top right corner of the mask. Then similar for the right hand side, warp from the centre down to the top left corner.

Neat, it looks like the crocus is wearing a wing collar shirt. I presume that was Photoshop? Nice work.
