I really like the light set for this picture, I hope that I can use studiolight this way some day. A beautyful model as well. Good composition with the tilted camera.
Thanks all for your comments and observations. I had this mantle piece prop left over from x-mas, and decided I was going to use it somewhere. When I found out that Hillary was coming in, I decided I wanted to try something.
She came in for some h/s shot primarily, however; I was able to get her into this set for some quick shots. I used a large gold reflector on her left / camera right to kick some light to her shadows. I also had slid in one gold reflector in my softbox camera right.
I had to block out the light from the softbox hitting the mantle piece which was washing out the blue gels. I two of them on the mantle. One over her head and the other camera right.
Good exposure and good color contrast If you don't mind I'd suggest you not to crop the upperright corner of this pic but to add more space on the left and bottom just to get better composition
Wow. Insane colour contrast from forground to background. Doesn't even look real. That's so cool. The candles, little specs of yellow in the blue, balance the image and draw just enough attention to the aforementioned unique background qualities.
(Sorry, I'm not one of these guys who can offer fantastically picky critiques on portraits... I know nothing about lighting a model properly, etc., but this looks good to me!)
