About This piece gives two different aspects to the capture. The pier dates back many years and I wanted to touch on past and present with a double take. The pier was originally at least a mile long but during WW2 it was greatly reduced in length using explosives to stop any potential invasion by aggressors - such as same as I would have loved to be able to walk that same pier to day! Sadly the pier is now deemed unsafe to walk and is closed to the public. There are now plans to bring it all down once and for all :-(

A good idea, well presented. I like Matej's idea of trying to show the 'old' shot as the pier originally was (ie long) and the modern much more abridged version. That aside, I think that as you have presented works well.

Stuart, it's a nice presentation. I particularly like the 'old' image, you did some great work on those effects. Perhaps you could apply the grain filter as well. The only thing that I find distracting is the horizon tilt. (Good choice of font by the way.)

I would suggest (not so much as a criticism of this image but perhaps an idea for a future one) to make something similar, but with the shots taken from different angles - the 'old' from farther away, so that the pier would go across the entire image, making the end invisible and appearing to be its full original length; the 'new' from next to the pier, looking down its length, showing clearly that is has been reduced. Just an idea.

Regards, Matej
