This was a 'shot of opportunity', taken while on R&R in Istanbul when I was stationed in Eastern Turkey years ago. The subject was in rapt attention looking over the side of the Bosporus ferry. It was a quick, surreptitious photo. And yes, I masked out the background - possibly a mistake, but to me it looked distracting and cluttered.

This is an excellent portrait. I have been unsure about using a lens with a focal length in the 40's for this kind of work. I guess this photograph but those worries to rest.
Was this a posed portrait or just a shot of opportunity?
