About This was taken in the frenetic 6 hours I spent on mainland Antarctica, at the Australian Antarctic Base, Mawson. There were about 20 Weddell Seals on an icy haul-out. This fellow was the darkest one. The fact that we were limited in not getting any closer than 5 metres, shows the size of these animals!

I can't help but see this guy as being very cute despite the size. The only thing I would do to this image might be a little dodging to bring out some details on the face and body.
