Art: the "Manfrotto thingy" is the 190XPROB tripod - I guess it's a fairly standard choice for a good solid support, but needs a truck to cart it around (especially when the supplier sends it fitted with the wrong head...) AJ

Many thanks for the suggestion, Art. But: it only rains here in winter; the road is only closed to traffic in summer; being cobbled, it doesn't produce good reflections when it's wet... However, I can clearly visualise your idea (and I like it) so will see what I can do!

Thanks Doyle. This was actually an experiment with the new Manfrotto thingy. The local police obligingly closed the road and I was able to stand in the middle. Now all I need is a truck to carry it around... erm, assuming they reopen the road.

Pretty nice image AJ, good exposure on the walls of the building...perchaps it could be even one stop wider the aperture just to be a bit brighter the bottom area of the people...but still it is very nice the result...I could even try to use more exposure...to take into the shot more motions! Very nice!

Excellent work John! Very nice to be able to pull in 6 secs with an ISO 200 (Go team Nikon!) LoL!
Dude, this composition is about as good as it can get! The cool Blues on top and the warm tones on bottom . . . the second floor of the building a lesser, but still warming influence while the top floor has, once again, a cooling color and tone, but not too extreme. Overall the glow this slow shutter speed pulls in came out very nice . . . and the people aren't active enough to be significantly blurred . . . though if they had been that would only have given a French Impressionistic style to the shot anyway . . .
Anyway . . . I'm impressed! :)
Regards, Doyle I <~~~~~

Actually, Tony, my preference is Cruzcampo. But you've got to be patient if you order anything in this cafe - the service is friendly but erratic!
As with many buildings in Tarifa, this one is painted every few years, but the poor quality of materials and workmanship, coupled with the harsh climate, mean that many end up looking rather run-down.
I certainly do know the area above the windmills - often go mountain biking up there, or, when the terrain gets too rough, walking / scrambling. It is really wonderfully wild countryside.
Would have been fun to meet up, but in fact I'm travelling extensively at present - in Warsaw this week, between trips to Belgrade. But if you are heading back this way after mid-June, do let me know.

I prefer San Miguel!Nice ambiance shot with the typical balconied building which could do with a spot of repainting.Quite by surprise,or I would have got in touch with you,I found myself in the mountains right behind Tarifa and spent most of the day walking ever upwards through tangled forests, boggy land and swirling mists.Should have spent more time actually taking photos! We didn't a get back to Antequera until just after 11.00-an exhausting day!Do you know this area, just above the windmills-I've uploaded a foto. Best wishes, Tony.
