excellent photo AJ. I've seen plenty of crabs and other sea creatures up close but never bothered trying to take photos of them. they usually run away rather quickly. I always had problems with the remote release with my D70... usually just ended up using the timer instead.
warmest regards ~ James

Thanks Chad. The IR release is a lovely little device, basically a button on a box about 6cm x 2cm. But it requires line of sight to the front of the camera, whereas with a shot like this you really need to be behind the camera. Also, using the IR on fast subjects like drop shots I've found there is a slight delay, which makes it more or less unusable. But for macro shots where everything is bolted down it is great for eliminating the last hint of camera shake.

Nice detail on this shot and it is obvious you were patient in getting the shot. I enjoyed reading your about section. I have never used IR release, how does it differ from cable release?

How lovely; too bad they are not edible. Excellent angle of view, detail and color. Usually they are a little more orange and a little less yellow but they surely differ in the climes of Spain. --Jan

Hi Tony! A Fiddler crab, eh? Well, the description I found on the internet certainly seems to fit. And yes, this shot did require a little patience and it was not too hot... I spent a good couple of hours watching them.

Nice close-up of a Fiddler crab.If you've got bags of time and it's not too hot this kind of shot probably isn't too difficult to get.I've never managed to get one as good as this!I love watching them waving to each other from their burrows, really a quite amusing spectacle. Tony:)
